Joanelle Romero honored with the Armin T. Wegner Humanitarian Award 2005
HOLLYWOOD, CA – ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood hosted ARPA’s 2005 International Film Festival from October 3 to 7. ARPA screened 56 films from 18 countries including “American Holocaust: When It’s All Over I’ll Still Be Indian”, for which director/producer/writer Joanelle Romero received the prestigious “Armin T. Wegner Humanitarian Award” at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Friday, October 7.

“It is the first time that an American Indian receives a humanitarian award. Usually, it is us giving humanitarian awards to other people” confessed Joanelle Romero at the awards gala.
This provocative documentary exposes the startling connections between Adolf Hitler’s persecution of German Jews and the U.S. government’s treatment of Native Americans. The film reveals disturbing parallels between these two tragic episodes, delving into the historical, social, and religious underpinnings of America’s own campaign of “ethnic cleansing.” Through the powerful testimony of contemporary Native American voices, the documentary examines the enduring impact of this destructive legacy and its potential consequences for the future of Native American communities in the 21st century.
