Filmmakers Mimi Malayan and Arthur Muradyan were the visionary creators behind “The Stateless Diplomat: Diana Apcar’s Heroic Life”. This poignant film chronicles a pivotal chapter in the life of Diana Apcar, who was appointed Honorary Consul to Japan by the First Republic of Armenia in 1920. Set against the backdrop of post-Genocide chaos and the plight of Armenian refugees, the film sheds light on Apcar’s remarkable humanitarian activism.

Malayan and Muradyan’s outstanding work was recognized at the 22nd Arpa International Film Festival in Hollywood, where they received the prestigious Armin T. Wegner Humanitarian Award on November 10, 2019. Notably, Malayan has a personal connection to the subject, being the great-granddaughter of Diana Apcar.
