Theodore Braun receives the Armin T. Wegner Humanitarian Award 2008

Los Angeles – Writer-director Theodore Braun received the prestigious Armin T. Wegner Humanitarian Award at the closing of the 11th Annual Arpa International Film Festival at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on October 26, 2008.

While the world remained indifferent to charges of genocide in Darfur, Ted spent nearly five months in Sudan filming Darfur Now. The documentary, produced by Cathy Schulman, Mark Jonathan Harris and Don Cheadle and financed by Participant Productions & Warner Independent Pictures, won the NAACP Image Award for best documentary of 2007. The National Board of Review named Darfur Now one of the top five documentaries of 2007. The International Documentary Association Awarded him their Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Filmmaker of The Year Award for 2007.
In January 2008 Movie Maker Magazine named Braun, along with Errol Morris, Oliver Stone, Michael Moore, and Darfur Now producer Don Cheadle, one of 25 filmmakers whose work has changed the world.
Currently, Ted Braun is an Assistant Professor in screenwriting at the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts.
